Rebecca Kong earned a 6-0 win in doubles and a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles to lead the No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team to a 6-1 road win over Cal Lutheran on Friday afternoon.
With the win, CMS moves to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the SCIAC, while Cal Lutheran drops to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in conference.
Kong and
Alisha Chulani earned a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, and
Muduo Zhou and
Ella Brissett followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to secure the doubles point.
Lindsay Eisenman and
Emily Ing added a 6-4 win at No. 1 to complete the sweep.
Kong then finished off her perfect day with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 to secure the first singles win for CMS and increase its lead to 2-0.
Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne had a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 to make it a 3-0 win, and Ing clinched the team win by taking a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.
Zhou followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4, and after the Regals got their lone point at No. 1, Brissett capped off the day with a 7-6, 6-0 win at No. 2.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday, April 19 at Chapman, before closing out the regular season at Pomona-Pitzer on April 26.
