CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the first time since 2018, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will serve as the host site of the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships, which will take place at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center from May 19-27.
CMS was slated to be the host of the 2021 NCAA Championships, but the site was moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee due to the pandemic. This year will mark the fourth time that Biszantz will be the host site, and the 11th time that CMS has hosted either the men's or women's championship, dating back to 1980. Biszantz hosted the first combined men's and women's championship in 2011.
Both the Athenas and Stags earned the right to participate on their home courts by winning regionals last week. The Stags were at home, where they captured 4-0 wins over East Texas Baptist and Trinity. The Athenas traveled to Amherst, where they earned a 4-0 win over Colby-Sawyer and a 4-2 win over the host Mammoths.
The CMS men's tennis team is riding a 30-match win streak and is ranked No. 1 in the nation. The Athenas moved up to No. 2 after their road win over Amherst, and will try to repeat their feat from 2018, when they won their first national title at Biszantz.
The Stags will open play with the quarterfinals on Monday at 5 p.m. against Babson, while the Athenas will face Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The team championships will run through Friday, May 23, with the individual singles and doubles championships lasting through Tuesday, May 27.
