CLAREMONT, Calif. - Advik Mareedu of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, Feb. 15, the SCIAC office announced today. 

Mareedu was dominant to start the year as CMS opened 4-0, winning all three singles and doubles matches on the No. 1 line. He did not allow his opponents to win more than three games in a set, as he took a 6-2, 6-3 win against DII Point Loma, a 6-2, 6-1 win against DI UC Riverside and a 6-1, 6-2 win against DIII Brandeis.

Mareedu's three doubles wins (with Caleb Settles) were also by similarly dominant 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 scores as he opened up his dual season in perfect fashion, one year after winning the NCAA Division III Singles Championship and finishing the year with a 41-1 singles record. 

CMS will be back in action when it travels to play in the ITA Indoor Nationals, beginning with a match against Swarthmore on Friday.
