Esther Lee tied for second over the 36-hole tournament
VENTURA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team made up seven shots on the second round to move into a tie for second with Redlands at the first SCIAC regular season tournament, which was held at Olivas Links Course on Saturday and Sunday.

CMS was +12 on Sunday to finish the tournament at +32, matching Redlands, which had a team score of +19 on Sunday. Pomona-Pitzer won the team title with a +21 overall, following a +7 on Sunday after being in second after day one.

Esther Lee tied for second at +4 after two rounds of 74, while Precilla Tea tied for fifth at +7, while playing as an individual and not factoring into the team score (Tea's 74 on Saturday would have lowered the team score by five strokes and moved CMS up to +27 overall had it counted.

Ella Chiu had a birdie on No. 17 on her second round, and Christine Yu had a birdie on No. 18 to help CMS make up the final two strokes it needed to catch Redlands.

Tea had a strong close to her first round on Saturday, with birdies on No. 14, No. 16 and No. 17 to lower her score to +2 after her first round. Emily Zhou also had a strong back nine on Saturday, shooting -1 with birdies on No. 10 and No. 17 to finish with a 76.

CMS will be back in action on March 7-8 at the George Fox Invitational in Peoria, Arizona.
