COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. - Lindsay Eisenman provided the clinching point with a 6-4 win in the third set at No. 1 singles as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team earned a 4-1 win over Chicago in the title match of the ITA Indoor Championship on Sunday in Nashville.

With the win, CMS improves to 5-1 on the season, with the only defeat coming to Division I UC Riverside (4-3). Chicago slips to 5-3 with its first loss to a Division III opponent.

CMS had to defeat No. 4 Emory, No. 1 WashU and No. 2 Chicago to win the ITA Indoors, and did it with 4-3 wins over Emory and WashU and a 4-1 win over Chicago, all of which came after dropping the doubles point but rallying from behind with key three-set wins in singles from different players.

Eisenman and Rebecca Kong did pick up a win at No. 1 doubles (7-5), but the Maroons were able to win 7-5 at No. 2 to secure the doubles point. Kong quickly picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to level the match at 1-1 for her third straight-set singles win of the weekend, and Bell Zhou earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 to also improve to 3-0. Leah Baroudi earned a tight 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5, and the final three matches all went to three sets.

Eisenman dropped the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6, but came back to win the second set 6-3. Ananya Sriniketh, who clinched the WashU win with a three-set victory, and tied the Emory match 3-3 with another three-set victory before Zhou's clinch, went to three sets at No. 3, and Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne came back after dropping the first to split at No. 6.

It was Eisenman, the defending national champion in singles, who came through with the team win. She fell behind to Sarena Biria 2-0 in the third, but won the next three games in a row to pull in front. With the score tied 4-4, she was able to take the last two games and give CMS the indoor title.

CMS will be back in action next weekend when it hosts Vassar on Saturday.
