Athenas Tennis Celebrates Senior Day, Earns 5-2 Win over Redlands

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis team honored senior Lindsay Eisenman, the defending NCAA Division III singles champion, before the match and celebrated with a 5-2 SCIAC win over Redlands on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

With the win, CMS improves to 17-1 overall and 4-0 in the SCIAC, and remains undefeated against Division III competition as it maintains its No. 1 national ranking. Redlands falls to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in SCIAC with the loss.

Eisenman has had a decorated career with the Athenas, earning a singles win in 2003 to help CMS to its second straight team national title, and then earned an individual national title in singles last season. She is the lone senior on this year's squad, elevating the program back to a No. 1 ranking following the clincher in the ITA Indoor Championships against Chicago in February.

CMS earned the win by dominating singles, as Celestina Cedillo-Vayson de Pradenne started a streak of five straight wins with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4. Ananya Sriniketh followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2, Shifali Dinesh earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Bell Zhou provided the clinch with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.

Rachel Garton finished off the match with the fifth and final point for the Athenas, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6. Leah Baroudi and Zhou also had a 6-0 win in doubles for CMS to start the match.

The Athenas will be back in action on Friday when they face Stanton at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
