PASADENA, Calif. -
Josh Jacobs,
Rider Gordon and
Alex Henderson each homered in the opener, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team won by identical 17-0 scores in both ends of a doubleheader sweep over Caltech on Saturday.
CMS now stands at 26-11 on the year and 15-6 in the SCIAC, while Caltech falls to 4-33 and 1-20 in league play.
Kody Perry and
Brayden Thomas recorded four strikeouts apiece on the mound for the Stags in the opener and Jacobs was 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI. Henderson was 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBI while
Rider Gordon and
Jett Shue added two RBI apiece.
Dillon Martin got the offense going with a sac fly in the first inning, allowing
Bryce Didrickson to score. Henderson had a three RBI double to right in the second and Jacobs had a three run homer in third to give CMS a 7-0 lead. Gordon added a two run homer in the fourth and the Stags went on to score three runs in the sixth, including a homer from Henderson, RBI single from Jacobs and a RBI single to left from Shue, giving CMS a commanding 12-0 lead.

Thomas Worth after being hit by a pitch.
Carter Bennett had a sac fly,
Austin Xu tallied a RBI single while Shue and
Jack Cahill walked in runs to force the ten-run rule.
In the nightcap, Bennett had two hits and four RBI while Martin was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Didrickson tallied three hits as well for the Stags and Jacobs and Heher both had two hits and two RBI apiece. Didrickson gave CMS an early 1-0 lead after stealing home in the first inning and Heher put the Stags up 3-0 after a two RBI single to right.
Tegin Maloney finished with three strikeouts for CMS, allowing only two hits in five innings. Henderson had a RBI single in second and Martin homered to left in the third to put the Stags up 5-0. CMS scored four runs in the fourth after Bennett had a two RBI double to center, followed by a Jacobs two-un homer.
The Stags added a game-high eight runs in the seventh after Martin scored on a throwing error.
Cruz Wexler,
Charlie Kalil and
Bryan Garcia added RBI singles and Martin and Bennett tallied two RBI hits to force another ten-run rule.
The Stags will next travel for its final regular season series of the year, beginning with a road matchup against Cal Lutheran on May 1 at 3 p.m.
