CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team picked up its 20th win of the season with a quick 7-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Friday afternoon at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
With the win, CMS moves to 20-1 overall on the season and starts out conference play at 1-0, while the Kingsmen slip to 0-3 in league play.
Anirudh Reddy teamed with
Brandon Vu for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, and then picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles for the Stags.
Warren Pham and
Josh Kim earned the final doubles decision with a 6-3 win at No. 3, and Pham went on to earn a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles for the third CMS point.
Kim then provided the clinch for CMS with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2.
Advik Mareedu and
Caleb Settles earned the clinch of the doubles point with a 6-1 win at No. 1, and then Settles finished off the match with a 10-3 third-set tiebreaker win for a 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 win at No. 4.
Amrith Kodumuri also was victorious in singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3, and
Rohan Yarlagadda added a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 5.
CMS will be back in action for two matches tomorrow, taking on Chapman in another SCIAC contest at 10 a.m., before heading on the road to face Azusa Pacific at 4 p.m.
