Biography

High School: A four-year varsity starter at Mission College Prep in San Luis Obispo, CA…as a senior, playing 3rd base, he hit .422 with an OPS of 1.141….2nd in SLO county with 33 RBIs in 26 games….named 2nd-team All-County infielder...also a two-year varsity starter at defensive end and tight end for the football team...as a senior, was named 1st-team All-League defensive end….helped the basketball team reach CIF Division V State Playoffs in both junior and senior year…..named Mission Prep’s Valedictorian and CIF Scholar Athlete of Year for Central Section.

2011: Appeared in 8 games and recorded a triple in his first career AB.

2012: Appeared in 10 games with two starts at 1st Base.

2013: Started all 37 games, primarily at DH,  for the Stags as a junior…led the team in OBP (.438) and walks with a SCIAC-leading 28…second on the team in batting average (.298) and OPS (.793)....had 9 multi-hit games and only failed to reach base in 4 contests all season.

Personal:  Ray was born and raised in Paso Robles, Ca … is the son of Marty Hurwitz and Elizabeth Chatelain … has a younger sister Helaina, who is a senior at Mission Prep…Ray is an Engineering major at Harvey Mudd College.
