Matthew Kemp enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team in 2024.
Kemp most recently served as the head men's and women's soccer coach at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois, where he led his teams to a combined record of 25-7-5. He was named the 2023 Region 24 Soccer Coach of the Year, and helped his men's team to a regional championship and an NJCAA National Tournament Appearance.
Prior to working at Heartland, Kemp had significant experience at the Division III level as an assistant coach at Illinois Wesleyan for three years from 2020-23. He served as the recruiting coordinator for Illinois Wesleyan, while also assisting in all areas of the program.
Kemp began his coaching career in California as the head coach of the boys team at Marina High School, where he worked from 2019-20.
Kemp graduated from CSU Monterey Bay in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in human communication, and went on to get a master's of science from Illinois State in kineseology and recreation. He was a four-year player for CSU Monterey Bay, and also played for the Nottingham Forest F.C. Development Academy in England.
