CLAREMONT, CA -- Despite getting off to a slow start, the
Athenas (9-11, 2-0 SCIAC) played well in their second SCIAC match
against the CalTech Beavers on April 7th. The Athenas
won the game 18-4.
Quite a few Athenas had stand out games and the whole team got
to see some water time. Emma Jones (SO, Eugene OR), in her
first game back from swimming nationals, Tessa Dover (JR, San Luis
Obispo, CA) who is also freshly back from swimming nationals, and
Jessica Wall (SO, Newbury Park, CA) with a strong showing at 2
meter, all scored three goals.
The other goals were scored by Meghan Stenger (SR, Pleasant
Hill, CA), Lily Reid (SO, Portland, OR), Mary Moore-Simmons
(SR, Sacramento, CA), Abigayle Lin (SR, Honolulu, HI), Danielle
Welch (SR, Mercer Island, WA ), Sarah Quincy (JR, San Ramon, CA)
and Jeanne Kelber (FR, Carlsbad, CA).
Heather Williams (SO, Ventura, CA [pictured]) also had a great
game, only allowing one goal during three quarters of play.
The Athenas are 2-0 in their SCIAC season. Their next match up
is against Occidental on April 10 at 11am.
