The
CMS Athenas took full advantage of the beautiful Southern
California weather and had a great weekend, beating SCIAC opponents
Whittier College and California Lutheran University handily on
Friday and Saturday respectively. On a very hot Friday afternoon,
CMS played at Whittier and won convincingly without losing a match.
On Saturday morning, CMS played Cal Lu at home and won
8-1.
With
strong victories at #1 and #2 doubles, the Athenas went into
singles with a 2-1 lead. They opened the singles strong, winning
all six first sets. #1 Kristin Lim (pictured at right) closed out
quickly with a 6-0, 6-1 victory and #3 Chloe Dobbert was not far
behind, winning her match 6-0, 6-2. #5 Alle Hsu, #4 Jessie Huang,
#2 Crystal Lim and #6 Victoria Nichols all won in straight sets as
well, giving the Athenas their 8-1 victory over the Cal Lu
Regals.
The
Athenas are now 4-0 in SCIAC and 13-1 overall. Next weekend, they
look forward to playing two more tough SCIAC opponents, Occidental
College and Redlands University. In addition, the Athenas have
moved to #16 nationally in the latest ITA rankings.
