CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Mason Cotton of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team earned the SCIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for games through Saturday, Oct. 19, the conference office announced today.
Cotton captured the honor after returning a punt 67 yards for a touchdown for the first points of the game as the Stags defeated La Verne on Saturday to move back into a tie for first place in the SCIAC's Surf Division. He also added a 15-yard punt return, giving him an average of 41 yards per return.
Cotton's honor gives CMS six award winners in six weeks, joining
Rich Brutto as Special Teams Player of the Week winners.
Walter Kuhlenkamp was the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week after a win over Pomona-Pitzer, while
Elijah Costa,
Jacob O'Connell and
Michael Houk have earned the Defensive Player of the Week.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Redlands for a 7 p.m. contest.
