CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Georgia McGovern nearly had a triple-double with eight kills, 33 assists and 11 digs as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team earned a 25-16, 25-16, 25-10 win over Chapman on Saturday night at Roberts Pavilion.
CMS moves to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in the SCIAC, with all five league wins coming via sweep. Chapman slips to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in league play with the loss.
Shae Delany led CMS in kills with 12 in 22 attempts and only one error, hitting .500 on the day, while also adding 11 digs for a double-double.
Solvej Eversoll had 10 kills in 12 attempts with one error for a .750 percentage, and
Brooke McKee added nine kills to a balanced offense.
Dede Carranza had 14 digs to lead the back row, while Eversoll and McKee each had a team-high four blocks.
The first set was tight early, with CMS holding a 10-9 lead before a 6-0 run pushed it 16-9, with Delany tallying three kills during the spurt, before she finished off the set with another kill for a 25-16 win.
Chpaman stayed within 19-16 in the second set, before CMS closed on a 6-0 run for its second straight 25-16 win. Eversoll had two kills during the run, including one on set point. CMS ran away with a 25-10 win in the third set to close out the win.
CMS will next be in action when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a Tuesday night contest before returning home to face La Verne on Friday night at 7 p.m.
