CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo team scored the game's first three goals and held off Claremont-Mudd-Scripps the rest of the way as it captured a 12-10 win at Haldeman Pool on Wednesday evening.
With the win, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 15-8 overall and 8-1 in the SCIAC, while CMS slips to 12-11 overall and 5-5 in league play.
Nick Kennedy had two goals and three assists for CMS, while
Thomas Walker had two goals and an assist and
Luke (Bear) Weigle added two goals.
After falling behind 3-0, the Stags got back within 5-4 in the second quarter on a goal from
Len Korol. The Sagehens scored the final two goals of the half to take a 7-4 lead into the break, and scored the first goal of the second half to extend the lead to 8-4, and the Stags weren't able to get it back down to two until the final margin.
Hassen Hove,
Ivey Gehring and
Cristian Pang added goals for CMS, with Pang also picking up two assists.
Gavin Netherton and
Jake Taylor each had two steals.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Caltech at 11 a.m.
