CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team got more and more efficient on offense as the game went on as it took a 25-3 win over Caltech on Saturday at Axelrood Pool.
With the win, the Stags improve to 6-5 in the SCIAC, and can secure a postseason bid to the league tournament with a win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday, or with a Whittier loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday.Â
Stryker Scales scored the first two goals for CMS to help the Stags to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, and then CMS scored seven times in the second quarter, seven times in the third and eight times in the fourth.Â
Cristian Pang had three goals and one assist and
Nick Kennedy and
Asher Engelberg each had two goals and two assists to lead CMS with four points apiece.
Luke (Bear) Weigle had three goals,
Auggie Aliaga,
Jeffrey Koretz and
Len Korol each had two goals and an assist.Â
CMS will be off until Saturday when it closes out its regular season at home against Cal Lutheran, which will also be Senior Day for Pang, Korol, Aliaga and
Ashwin Rhodes.Â
