CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team secured the regular season SCIAC title outright and the right to host the conference tournament with a 3-0 win over Occidental on Saturday at Roberts Pavilion. 

Set scores were 25-17, 25-15, 25-20 as the Athenas earned the sweep. With the win, CMS finishes the regular season at 20-5 overall and 14-2 in the SCIAC, ending ahead of La Verne by one game, which would have had the tiebreaker if the two teams ended up tied. 

Seniors Dani Beder, Brenna Bell, Dede Carranza, Georgia McGovern, Ashley Murashige, Lauren Parker and Kelsey Polhemus were honored before the contest after a four-year career which has seen them lead CMS to a pair of NCAA Regional titles and an undefeated regular season. 

McGovern had 10 service aces, extending her program record to 213 in her career, while adding 26 assists. Bell and Beder each had six kills, while Parker had four blocks. Carranza paced the defense with 11 digs, while Murashige added five (Polhemus was out of action due to injury).

CMS will be back in action on Thursday when it hosts a SCIAC Semifinal against an opponent to be determined.
