CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Josephine Jett won both the 60 meters and the 60-meter hurdles, taking the 60 by just one-hundredth of a second, to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team at its season-opening OIDFE Challenge at the Burns Track Complex.
Chloe Gudas added a win the 600 meters,
Madeline Seifert won the pole vault, and
Simone Rogers tied for first in the high jump for CMS.
Jett ran a 7.76 in the 60 meters, to edge out Jordyn Burke's 7.77 to win by the slimmest of margins. She also ran a 9.16 in the 60-meter hurdles to win by .3 seconds over teammate
Kaitlyn Creighton.
Gudas also won a tight battle between teammates to win the 600 meters, finishing in 1:40.43 to end up just ahead of
Mia Voce in second (1:40.74) and
Sally Gaskell (1:41.13) in a 1-2-3 CMS finish. Seifert cleared 3.19 in the pole vault to take first, with
Charlotte Almond in second, while Rogers cleared 1.50 meters to tie in the high jump.
Olivia Backholm was the runner-up in the mile in 5:35.71, behind only Rebekah Niednagel of the Master's University, with
Phoebe Wolfe Lyons finishing third.
Sadie Drucker was second in the 3000 meters in 10:11.41, behind only Hannah Fredericks of Master's.
Jamie Habib was third in the 1000 meters in 3:08.46, while
Georgia Rogers was third in the long jump at 4.22 meters.
Antonia Hekster was fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 12.55 meters.
CMS will be back in action on Feb. 15 for the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers Meet.
