LA CROSSE, Wis. - Josephine Jett earned her way into the finals in two events at the NCAA Division III Women's Track and Field Championships for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, giving the Athenas five strong chances to score on the final day tomorrow. 

Jett had the fourth-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.90, earning her one of nine spots in tomorrow's race. Aryianna Garceau of UMass-Boston had the fastest time of 13.48 to set a new meet record, but Jett was only .05 off the second-fastest finisher in prelims. 

Jett also had an 11.76 in the 100 meters, putting her seventh in prelims. Sydney Radigan of Calvin ran an 11.57 and Isabel Patterson of Wisconisn-Platteville came in at 11.61, with six other runners finishing between 11.71 and 11.76. 

Tomorrow's action will see Riley Capuano start the day at 1:25 p.m. (local time) in the 1500 meters, after coming in with the No. 3 seed and finishing fifth in prelims. Capuano finished second in the nation in the 1500 two years ago (and did not compete in track and field season last year).

Jett will have her two races at 1:50 and 2:30, while Sophia Laudi competes in the second flight of the javelin, which starts at 2 p.m. Laudi comes in seeded third this year, not far behind top seed Kayla Pelletier of Hartford and second-seed Alexandra Snyder of Misericordia. 

Elle Marsyla will then race in the 5000 meters at 4 p.m., looking to win two national titles after a dramatic victory in the 10000 meters yesterday, when she came back from 30 meters down on the final lap to win on the homestretch. 

CMS is currently in ninth place in the team standings, with the 10 points from Marsyla's first-place finish, and has a chance to make a move towards the top five with a big day tomorrow.
