CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior goalie
Jake Taylor of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team earned the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Oct. 12, the conference office announced today.
Taylor had 26 saves in a 2-0 week to help the Stags extend their unbeaten streak to eight games. He began the week by recording a career-high 16 saves in a 17-11 road win over Chapman, breaking his previous high of 13, set three times.
Taylor then added 10 more saves in three quarters against Occidental, allowing six goals, before coming out in a 21-7 win. He had a .605 save percentage for the week (26 saves, 17 goals) to help the top-ranked Stags (ranked No. 16 in all divisions) improve to 12-4.
It marks the second time this season that Taylor has earned the Defensive Player of the Week, while
Nick Kennedy has twice been named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday night when it hosts Occidental for a 7 p.m. contest.
