REDLANDS, Calif. -
Nick Kennedy scored four goals and
Luke (Bear) Weigle added three as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team stretched its winning streak to 10 games with a 12-7 victory at Redlands on Saturday morning.
With the win, CMS now stands at 14-4 on the season, while remaining unbeaten in the SCIAC at 5-0. Redlands suffers its first conference loss as it slips to 4-1 in league play.
The Stags were in a battle for the first three quarters, but got some separation when
Jack Bryant and
Thomas Walker scored in the final minute of the third quarter to make it 9-5, with Walker's goal coming with just one second left.
Weigle and Kennedy then started the fourth quarter with goals to make it a 4-0 run and push the lead to 11-5, and the Stags were able to cruise the rest of the way.
Jake Taylor finished with 10 saves for the Stags, while
Ivey Gehring had a team-high three assists to go along with a goal.
CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts Caltech for a 7 p.m. contest.
