CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sun Young Byun of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week Award for events through Sunday, Oct. 19, the conference office announced today. 

Byun had the highest finish for a CMS swimmer (men or women) in a season-opening double dual meet with Division I UC San Diego and Division II Simon Fraser. She came in second place in the 100 fly with a time of 55.53, behind only Eva Boehlke of UC San Diego. 

Byun, who was a first-team All-America in the 100 fly, earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week Award for the second time in her career. She also captured it on Jan. 13 of last year when she won three events in a double dual with Cal Lutheran and La Verne. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it competes in a double dual at Azusa Pacific, along with Biola.
