CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer battled seventh-ranked Pomona-Pitzer toe-to-toe on the road on Wednesday afternoon before coming away with a 0-0 tie.
The Athenas extend their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1) and now stand at 12-2-2 on the year and 7-2-1 in SCIAC. Pomona-Pitzer remains undefeated, and moves to 11-0-3 overall and 7-0-3 in conference.
Pomona-Pitzer held a 12-11 edge in shots, but CMS had a 7-4 edge in shots on goal and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. The two Sagehen goalies combining for seven saves.
Sadie Brown had a four-save shutout for the Athenas, her seventh of the year.
The Sagehens had the early momentum in the first half with five straight shots in a span of 11 minutes, but CMS then had the better of the play over the next 20 minutes, forcing Patricia DePalma to make five saves to keep the game scoreless.
Brown came up big in the early part of the second half with three saves in quick succession, and the Athenas then held Pomona-Pitzer without a single shot attempt in the final 33 minutes, but neither team could dent the scoreboard.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Cal Lutheran for a 7 p.m. contest.
