LA VERNE, Calif. -
Matteo Quadrini scored a goal in the 83rd minute as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team was able to come away with a 1-1 road tie with La Verne on Saturday.
With the tie, CMS moves to 4-8-6 overall on the season and 3-3-4 in the SCIAC, while La Verne moves to 6-6-5 overall and 4-4-3 in the league.
La Verne scored on its only shot attempt of the first half, a goal from Israel Jimenez Ramirez at the 39:12 mark. The Leopards were able to maintain that lead until 7:37 remained, when Quadrini scored his second goal of the season off an assist from
Sean Lee.
The Stags finished with a 14-6 edge in shots, as
Eric Grossman-Glover added a shot off the crossbar while trailing 1-0, and then had his bid for a game-winner save. Hector Duenas-Pena finished with eight saves for the Leopards, and
Miles Demarest had two for CMS.
The Stags will be back in action on Wednesday evening when it hosts Redlands as it tries to stay alive in the SCIAC playoff chase.
