CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team was in action at both the Whitworth Indoor Invitational and the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet this weekend, with
Josephine Jett earning the second-best time in the 60-meter hurdles in all of Division III this winter at Whitworth to highlight the weekend's action.
Jett was the top collegiate finisher in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.60 seconds, which is just .04 behind Aryianna Garceau of UMass Boston as the best time in all of Division III during Indoor Track and Field season.
Jett also ran a 7.65 to finish third behind only Division I runners Tara Ohlwiler of Montana and Lahela Ray of Washington State. That time now ties her for ninth in Division III this season, putting her in strong position to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships in both events next month. At Whitworth,
Simone Rogers also cleared five feet in the high jump (5'0.5").
Meanwhile at Pomona-Pitzer,
Chloe Gudas was victorious in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.25, edging out teammate
Mia Voce in 2:20.96. Sara Wexlwe was the winner of the 3000 meters in 10:19.75, with
Jie Yi Denise Chen coming in second in 10:26.94.
Sophia Laudi was second in the javelin with a throw of 127'10", while
Quinn Smith was third with a throw of 120'6".
Georgia Rogers earned third place in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.26 and
Olivia Schleifer was third in the 400-meter hurdles.
Lily Drye was fifth and Kathryn Cooper sixth in the 400, while
Angie Gushue,
Sally Gaskell and
Jamie Habib were 6-7-8 in the mile.
CMS will be back in action next weekend when it hosts the Rossi Relays.
