CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Josephine Jett ran an 11.97 in the 100 meters, and
Sophia Laudi threw 128'4" in the javelin as they moved into second place in CMS history in their respective events to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team on Saturday at the Burns Track Complex.
Laudi finished second in the event behind Luisa Fischer of Azusa Pacific and is just eight inches shy of the CMS record of 129'2", set by Mary Moore in 2009. Jett finished first in the 100, and now places second behind only national champion Tyra Abraham in CMS history.
Antonia Hekster set a new PR in the hammer throw with a throw of 167 feet even, taking first place in the event by 15 inches over Mackenzie Monson of Cerritors, amd remaining in sixth in CMS history.
Simone Rogers cleared 5 feet, one-half inch in the high jump to finish fourth in the competition, behind three Division II competitors.
The 4x100 relay team of
Luna Young, Jett,
Mallory Venezia and
Elsie Lindeman also moved into ninth in CMS history with a 48.35. The sprint medley relay team of Young, Lindeman, Jett and
Lily Drye recorded the No. 2 time in CMS history in 1:50.04, while the 4x800 team of
Rosemary McManus, Jie-Yi Denise Chen,
Olivia Backholm and
Olivia Smith ran the third-best time in CMS annals with a 9:38.10.
CMS will be back in action next weekend when it hosts a SCIAC Quad Cup.
