Five Athenas Earn All-Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Angie Gushue, junior Riley Capuano and sophomores Sadie Drucker, Sally Gaskell and Revere Schmidt were named to the 2024 Division III Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team, it was announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

CMS also earned All-Academic Team distinction from the USTFCCCA for having a team grade point average of 3.72. 

The five Athenas honored helped CMS to a NCAA West Region championship, finishing one point ahead of Colorado College, before going on to finish 11th at the NCAA Division III Championships. Capuano was the individual champion, with Drucker coming in fifth, Gushue ninth, Schmidt 13th and Gaskell 43rd out of the 174 runners who competed.

Capuano went on to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Championships for the second straight season with an 18th place finish, to help CMS come in 11th place.
