AZUSA, Calif. -
Sara Wexler ran a 17:22.75 to place fifth in her section and set a new personal best in the 5000 meters, while
Jamie Habib added a new PR In the 1500 meters, to highlight the performance of the CMS women's track and field team at the Bryan Clay Invitational this week at Azusa Pacific.
Wexler took over 20 seconds off of her old PR of 17:43.45, set last year at the La Verne Distance Carnival. It was also almost 40 seconds faster than her best time of this season, set at the first SCIAC Quad Meet on March 1.
Habib, meanwhile, ran a 4:42.10 in the 1500, which chopped just over two seconds off her previous best time. She ran a 4:44.71 at the Triton Invitational earlier this year, and then passed that with a 4:44.63 last week at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
Both Wexler (55th) and Habib (91st) moved into the top 100 in Division III this season, as they will try to build on those times to quality for the NCAA Division III Championships in late May.
The Bryan Clay Invitational served as the final tune-up for the Athenas before the SCIAC Championships next weekend, which will be hosted by Occidental.
