EAGLE ROCK, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team held off a tough challenge from Chapman to take back the SCIAC Championship by a margin of just four points on Saturday and Sunday at Jack Kemp Stadium on the campus of Occidental College.
The Athenas had a streak of seven straight titles snapped a year ago, but bounced back to take the title by a final score of 200-196.
Josephine Jett highlighted the individual performances for the Athenas by sweeping the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, and 200-meter dash for three first-place finishes. She trimmed three-hundredths of a second off her CMS record in the 100 hurdles with a 14.05, while
Georgia Rogers earned All-SCIAC honors with a third-place finish (15.15) and
Kaitlyn Creighton scored with a fourth-place finish (15.31).
In the 100-meter dash, Jett finished in 12.02 to win by a margin of .27 over Katriona Kirkpatrick of Pomona-Pitzer. She then capped off her day by winning the 200 meters in 24.45, with Kirkpatrick second in 24.80.

Olivia Schleifer fifth.
Hope Dragseth earned All-SCIAC in the 5000 meters in the final individual race of the event, which turned out to be a pivotal moment in the meet, as her six points held up as the winning margin. Dragseth was competing in only her third event after missing cross country season, and was outside the top 10 after the first half of the race before a strong move up to third to take a spot on the podium.
Jie Yi Denise Chen also scored with a sixth-place finish.
Sophia Laudi scored in the shot put with a third place finish, a day after winning the javelin championship in her top event.
Katelyn Sewell was a scorer for the Athenas in the discus, coming in fifth with a throw of 115 feet even.
CMS will compete in several more events over the next three weeks, as the Athenas will try to earn qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held in Geneva, Ohio from May 23-25.
