CLAREMONT, Calif. - Seven members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team earned All-SCIAC honors, including six on the first team, in a vote of the conference's coaches, the SCIAC office announced today.

Seniors Holly Shankle (first team), Natalie Teare (first team), Taylor Daetz (first team) and Chloe Klein (second team) earned honors from the CMS defensive unit, while Amelia Ulmer and Grace Minturn earned first-team honors at attack, and Julia Ryan earned it as a draw specialist.

Shankle took over the full-time starting role at goalkeeper this year and produced a 9.44 goals against average and a .516 save percentage for the Athenas. She set a career high with 15 saves against Chicago, and surpassed that mark with 20 against Pomona-Pitzer. She also had 12 saves and allowed only eight goals in a Senior Day win over Occidental.

Teare finished the regular season with 19 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls. She had four caused turnovers and four ground balls against nationally ranked Trinity, and matched her season-high in ground balls against Pomona-Pitzer. She also had three caused turnovers in a tight one-goal win over Redlands.

Daetz has 12 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls during the regular season, while also venturing forward to score nine goals. She caused two turnovers in games against Williams, Pomona-Pitzer and George Fox, and had two goals and two assists in the final regular season home game for CMS against Whittier.

Klein contributed 16 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls to the CMS defensive efforts this season, including three caused turnovers in a game against nationally ranked Williams, and another against Whittier. She had two ground balls in a game four times, including an overtime contest against Pomona-Pitzer.

Minturn earns first-team All-SCIAC honors for the second year in a row, after taking Offensive Player of the Year honors last season. She enters the postseason with a team high points on 34 goals and 21 assists, after tallying seven goals and three assists in the regular season finale at Redlands, securing the No. 2 seed for the Athenas and earning her SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Ulmer enters SCIAC Tournament play with the team lead in goals with 36 so far this season. She has had multiple goals in 12 of the last 13 contests, including five against George Fox and four in back to back games to close out the regular season against Whittier and Redlands.

Ryan leads the nation in draw controls by a huge margin with 315 in 16 games (19.7 per contest). She helped the Athenas tie the NCAA record for draw controls in a game against Whittier with 34, earning 30 of them herself, while losing none. She also had 31 draw controls against Occidental, and 27 in a road game against nationally ranked Colorado College.

CMS will open SCIAC Tournament play when it hosts Redlands this evening for a 7 p.m. contest. Tickets are free with ID from a SCIAC institution, or they may be purchased through TicketLeap.
