AZUSA, Calif. -
Josephine Jett broke her own CMS 100-meter hurdles record with the first sub-14 second time in program history (13.96), and set a personal record in the 100 meters with an 11.74 to move into tenth place in Division III this season, at the Franson Last Chance Meet this weekend.
Jett set the program hurdles record for the fifth time this year, most recently clocking a 14.05 to win the SCIAC Championship. Her first CMS record came with a 14.30 at the SCIAC Quad Cup at the Burns Track Complex on March 1, and she then ran a 14.28 at the Triton Invitational, a 14.08 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, and a 14.05 at SCIACs.
Jett now stands in fourth in Division III in the hurdles this season, while her new PR in the 100 meters of 11.74 moves her up to tenth and in position to qualify for both events at the NCAA Championships (top 22). She ranks behind only two-time national champion Tyra Abraham in the 100 meters in CMS history, who ran an 11.65 in 2018.
Madeline Seifert also set a new PR in the pole vault at the Franson Last Chance Meet, clearing 12'2.75" (3.73 meters), which places her 27th in NCAA Division III this season.
Seifert will have one more chance to earn a qualifying mark when CMS heads to the Redlands Last Chance meet on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sophia Laudi (12th in the javelin) is also in position to qualify for nationals, while
Antonia Hekster (24th in hammer), Seifert (27th in pole vault),
Revere Schmidt (35th in steeplechase) and Olivia Backhom (36th in steeplechase) have a chance to qualify if they can move up the rankings. Jett ranks 28th in the 200 meters and could try to earn a qualifying time in a third event as well.
