Grace Clark and
Valerie Wraith earned first-team All-America honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches,
Isabel Del Villar captured a spot on the second team, and
Caitlin Muñoz,
Jordan LaCour and
Elise Power earned honorable mention distinction, the organization announced today.
Clark led CMS with 77 goals this season, to go along with 37 assists for 114 points. She had three seven-point games, including three goals and four assists against Division I Brown, and six goals and three assists in a win over Whittier. She capped off her season with two goals and two assists in a one-goal defeat in the national championship.
Wraith was second behind Clark in both goals (70) and points (94). She had 14 hat tricks on the season, including a season-high five goals against Occidental, and had a four-goal game against Chapman in the SCIAC Semifinals, and a four-goal, two-assist performance against Cal Lutheran in the regular season.
Del Villar finished the season with 54 goals and 28 assists, while also adding a team-high 53 steals. She had a season-high five goals in a postseason win over Chapman, and also had a five-point game against Concordia, and five-point games in both meetings with Whittier.
Muñoz had 42 goals and 31 assists on he year, while contributing 48 steals, and added a six-goal game against Division I Brown, with the buzzer-beater to win it. LaCour, who was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year, had 41 goals in her debut campaign, including three in the national championship match. Power tallied 35 goals in her senior season, with five hat tricks, with one coming in a 7-5 game against Pomona-Pitzer.
CMS finished the year with a 20-11 record and reached the national championship game for the third year in a row. It was the second straight 20-win season for the Athenas and the fourth in program history, with the 2000 team holding the CMS record with 22.
