CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team ended the year ranked No. 2 in Division III, behind only national champion Denison, in the final rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association today.
CMS ended with a 31-3 overall record, and a 26-1 mark against Division III opponents, with the only defeat coming to Case Western Reserve, which finished No. 3, in the national semifinals.
The Stags also had five individuals in the final singles rankings, led by No. 1
Advik Mareedu, who was 41-1 overall on the year to set a CMS record for wins in a season, including 37-0 against Division III opponents. The gap between Mareedu and the No. 2 singles player (Kael Shah of Denison) was almost 20 points in the computer rankings (75.54 to 55.83).

Warren Pham, who ended up ranked No. 18 after falling to Mareedu in the ITA West Regional finals. Senior
Matthew Robinson placed No. 47 in the final rankings, while
Josh Kim was No. 58 and
Tarm Rojanasoonthon was No. 75.
In doubles, Kim and Mareedu ended her year ranked No. 8, while
Caleb Settles and
Brandon Vu were ranked No. 16.
CMS reached the national semifinals for the third year in a row, and will head into next year with Mareedu and Pham back at the top two spots in the singles line-up and both of its ranked doubles teams in tact, as it tries to win the program's third national title.
