Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 17 Stags Soccer Drops Opener to No. 11 Trinity 2-1

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Sean Lee scored in his collegiate debut, but the 17th-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team dropped its season opener to No. 11 Trinity (Texas) 2-1 on Friday evening.

After the two teams played to a scoreless first half, the Tigers opened the second half with a goal from Samuel Theiss, who volleyed in a cross that took an unlucky deflection past a Stag defender.

Trinity added a second goal with 10:42 left from Adam Knutson to seemingly put the game away, but the Stags answered on a counter just over a minute later. Atticus English stole a pass in the CMS defensive half and then played a through ball to Lee, who one-timed a shot past goalie Jayden Schell. with 9:33 to go.

The Tigers kept the defense tight the rest of the way, with Nico McKee having one last chance with a minute to go that missed high.

Miles Demarest had four saves in the contest, three in the first half to help keep the game scoreless, while Zeno Bang added a defensive save with Demarest out of net.

CMS will be back in action on Sunday when it completes its two-game Texas trip with a road game at Southwestern.
