CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Sean Lee tied the score for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team less than four minutes into the second half, but Pomona-Pitzer was able to break the deadlock in hte 80th minute to take a 2-1 win over the Stags on Wednesday evening at Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Stadium.
The Sagehens stay undefeated with the win at 5-0-2, including 2-0-1 in league play, while CMS slips to 1-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in conference.
After falling behind 1-0 at the half, CMS equalized when
Sean Lee one-timed in a cross from
Alex Sondergaard at the 48:56 mark, tucking a shot in off the inside of the left post. It was his team-leading fourth goal of the season, including one in each of the last two games.
The Stags kept the pressure on in the second half looking for a go-ahead tally, but the Sagehens were able to deny the Stags a shot attempt in the box and went end-to-end for the go ahead goal from Seb Lee Jara with 10:24 left.
CMS finished with a 12-5 advantage in shot attempts, with
Collin Ross taking four and
John Laidlaw and Lee each taking three.
CMS returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Redlands for a 1 p.m. contest.
