Riley Capuano Earns National Athlete of the Week Honors from USTFCCCA

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Riley Capuano of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team earned the M-F Athletic National Division III Women's Athlete of the Week award from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced today.

Capuano finished tenth at the UC Riverside Invitational with a 20:47.5, out of a field of 219 runners mostly from the Division I and Division II runners. She helped lead CMS to a fourth-place showing in the team standings, behind only Division I San Francisco, Division II Stanislaus and Division I UC Irvine. The Athenas finished well ahead of fifth-place Biola, with Division I teams all filling the No. 6-10 spots.

Capuano started the 2025 campaign with a victory at the Coyote Challenge and then took runner-up honors at the DIII Pre-Nats last weekend.

Capuano becomes the third Athena to win National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season, joining 2022 honoree Natalie Bitetti and 2021 honoree Riley Harmon.

CMS will be back in action this weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at 8 a.m.
