CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Sun Young Byun of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Swimmer of the Week Award for events through Sunday, Jan. 18, the league office announced today.
Byun won two individual events and two relays to help CMS sweep Cal Lutheran and La Verne on Saturday. She won the 100 back in 58.15, a margin of 1.79 seconds over teammate
Annika Sharma, and then won the 100 fly by over three seconds in 55.43. She also swam the second leg of the winning 200 free relay and the butterfly leg of the winning 200 medley relay.
Byun earned the honor for the second time this season, after also winning on Oct. 20 after an opening-day meet at UC San Diego. CMS has also won the Diver of the Week honor four times this season, with
Simone Sabeeh winning it three times and
Josie Kearns once.
CMS will be back in action this weekend when it hosts Division I UC Santa Barbara for a 12 p.m. meet at Axelrood Pool.
