CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Evan Gerber of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week for games through Sunday, Oct. 4, the website announced today.
Gerber earned the honor after intercepting two passes in a big 24-22 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday, which moved CMS to 2-0 in the SCIAC on the year. His first interception resulted in a 17-yard touchdown return to put the Stags ahead 14-3 in the second quarter. The second one came in the fourth quarter with CMS clinging to a two-point lead.
Gerber also had three tackles, one of which was a sack for a seven-yard loss. He also stuffed a run for no gain on 3rd-and-1, and stopped a 3rd-and-4 carry two yards short of a first down.
CMS has now had three different players make the D3football.com Team of the Week in the last two weeks, after linebacker
Joseph Kessler and kicker
Sean Lee were on it last week following a 22-10 win over Pomona-Pitzer.
The Stags will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to La Verne for a 1 p.m. contest.
