CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Nick Kennedy of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week award for games through Sunday, Nov. 1, the conference office announced today.
Kennedy returned after missing two weeks with an injury to record a pair of four-goal games to help CMS sweep a pair of close contests. He had four goals and four assists in a 14-12 win over Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, including three goals in the fourth quarter as CMS turned an 8-7 deficit into a 14-12 win. He also had four goals in a 12-7 win over Whittier on Saturday, including a third-quarter goal that put CMS ahead to stay 7-6, and another in the fourth to make it 10-7.
Kennedy earns the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for the fourth time this season.
Fletcher Appeldorn also won it two weeks ago, while
Jack Bryant earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor back in September after his sudden death game-winner at Redlands.
CMS will be back in action when it travels to Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday with a chance to pull even for first place in the conference standings, before returning home to face Caltech on Saturday at 11 a.m.
