CLAREMONT, Calif. - Caleigh Edwards and Katie Resendiz earned first-team All-SCIAC honors for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team in a vote of the league coaches, the SCIAC office announced today.

Edwards is the leading scorer and rebounds for CMS heading into the postseason at 13.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, and her impact as a two-way player has been pivotal in the Athenas earning the second seed. She had a season-high 31 points against Occidental, and scored in double figures in each of her last 14 league contests.

Edwards has also had at least one steal in every contest this season, except for Case Western on opening weekend, and has had multiple steals in each of her last nine contests, including five in an overtime win over Redlands that clinched the No. 2 seed for CMS.

Resendiz was close behind Edwards in scoring at 12.7 points per game, while also pulling down 6.1 rebounds. She had a season-high 29 points in a home win over Redlands on Jan. 21, and had four blocks and three steals in a win over Cal Lutheran.

Resendiz' double-doubles have included 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Occidental, and 17 and 11 in an overtime win over Whittier, when her driving lay-up with 45 seconds left helped seal it. She also had six points in an overtime home win over Redlands, including the go-ahead three-pointer to start the extra session. 

CMS finished the regular season at 18-7 and earned the No. 2 seed in the SCIAC Tournament. The Athenas will host Pomona-Pitzer in one of the two SCIAC Semifinals on Thursday night at 7 p.m. SCIAC events are ticketed, but free with ID from a SCIAC institution.
