CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Caleigh Edwards of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's basketball team earned second-team All-Region honors from D3hoops.com, the website announced today.
Edwards was a first-team All-SCIAC selection and was the Most Outstanding Performer at the SCIAC Tournament, while leading the Athenas to a 20-8 overall record and their first league championship since 2017.
A key contributor at both ends of the floor, Edwards led CMS in scoring (13.6 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg) and steals (2.5 spg) and was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the SCIAC after leading the Athenas to a first-place finish at the David Wells Classic.
In the championship game of the SCIAC Tournament, Edwards broke the program record for most free throws made without a miss, finishing 14-14 at the line to break the previous mark of 13-13, held by two players. She finished the championship game with 23 points, 11 rebounds and five steals, after also tallying 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals in a close semifinal win over Pomona-Pitzer.
CMS advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017, traveling to the regionals at Hardin-Simmons.
