CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Warren Pham of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for events through Sunday, March 1, the conference office announced today.
Pham was 4-0 in a Saturday doubleheader as CMS took 7-0 shutout wins over UC Santa Cruz and Ventura at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, improving CMS to 9-0 overall on the year.
Pham had the clincher at No. 2 singles in the win over the Banana Slugs, taking a 6-2, 6-0 win, and then moved up to No. 1 singles against Ventura and won in straight sets. He also had doubles wins in both matches as well.
CMS has now had three different award winners in the first three weeks.
Advik Mareedu was the first winner of the year following his performance in a 4-0 week for the Stags, and
Henry Wilson picked it up last week after a 3-0 performance in singles at the ITA Indoor Championship.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Biola in the morning, and then faces Westmont at home at 5 p.m.
