CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team won seven events as it helped captured the SCIAC Quad Cup on Saturday at the Burns Track Complex.
The SCIAC Quad Cup combined scores for the men's and women's programs and CMS finished with 459, defeating second-place Chapman (295) by 164 points. The Stags finished with 226 points on the day, almost 100 more than their Chapman men's counterparts with 128 points.
Jacob Pippel won the steeplechase for the Stags in 9:15.11 for their first win of the day.
Ellis DelVecchio took first in the 800 meters in 1:52.81, and
Charlie Routledge won the 5000 in 15:17.89, leading a 1-2-3 finish with
Jerry Xu and
Brennan Tobin finishing second and third.
Cian Bryant was the winner in the javelin with a throw of 163'7", and
Kavin Prasanna took first in the hammer throw at 183'0".
Jonathan Holcombe earned the win in the long jump at 21'7.5" and
Colin Lakkaraju was the winner in the triple jump at 45'1".
CMS had a strong effort in the 4x100 relay with a 41.76, and also came in second in the 4x400 relay.
Jaden Rattay was the runner up in the 400 meters in 48.77, while
Evan Siegel came in second in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.17.
Aidan Cho was the runner up in the shot put at 50'10.75" to move up one spot into ninth in CMS history, while
Jack Paavola was second in the discus at 144'8". CMS finished 2-6 in the shot put and 2-5 in the discus as it showed off its throwing depth.
CMS will be back in action when it competes at the UC San Diego Invitational next Saturday.
