Jett, Seifert Sweep SCIAC Weekly Honors for Athenas Track and Field

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Josephine Jett won the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week and Madeline Seifert earned the Field Athlete of the Week as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team swept the league's weekly awards for events through Sunday, March 29, the SCIAC announced today.

Jett won three individual events and contributed to a winning relay as CMS captured the SCIAC Quad Cup on Saturday at home at the Burns Track Complex. Jett swept the 100, 200 and 100 hurdles, and then gave CMS the lead on the second leg of the 4x100 relay. Her 100 hurdles time of 13.86 broke her own CMS record by .1, which she set last year at the NCAA Championships, and ranks No. 2 in Division III so far this season.

Seifert won both the pole vault and the long jump to help CMS to the championship of the SCIAC Quad Cup. Her pole vault clearance of 12' 0.5" ranks her No. 7 in NCAA Division III this year. She also added a PR in the long jump (her secondary event) with a distance of 17' 8.75" to finish first in that event as well, which ranks her No. 32 in Division III.

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it participates at the UC San Diego Invitational.
