REDLANDS, Calif. -
Kaitlyn Creighton finished in first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a 15.04, moving into eighth place in Athena history, and
Sophia Laudi won the javelin, to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team on Friday at the Redlands Invitational.
Creighton finished first, and
Georgia Rogers came in second, while Rogers added a third-place finish in the high jump at 5'1", tying her PR. Creighton also came in third in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:06.72.
Laudi threw 134'8" in the javelin to take first, winning by just over 10 feet.
Lorrell Shiely was third for the Athenas with a throw of 119'1".
Emily Ortiz was third in the discus at 139'10" and fourth in the hammer throw with a 151'8", while Catherine Novy was ninth in the discus,
Ellabelle Higgins was seventh in the hammer and Shiely was ninth in the hammer.
Josephine Jett, who holds the program record, instead competed in the 100 meters and the 200 meters, coming in third in the 100 meters with an 11.92 and third in the 200 meters with a 24.93.
The 4x100 relay team of
Luna Young, Jett,
Shriya Velichala, and
Sydney Behrens ran a 47.58 to move into fourth place at CMS. The Athena quartet came in with a top time of 47.92 set earlier this season, which placed sixth, and moved up two spots by trimming .34 off their best.
CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts a SCIAC Quad Cup at the Burns Track Complex.
