CLAREMONT, Calif. -
Ellis DelVecchio ran a 1:50.13 in the 800 meters to take second place, and
Jack Paavola was second in the discus with a throw of 152'10" to highlight the performance of the men's track and field team at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.
DelVecchio's time moves him into second place in Division III so far this season (pending other results from the weekend), while Paavola moves into sixth place all time in CMS history in the discus with his 152"10" mark.
DelVecchio was followed by
Richard Burrow in third place in the 800, while
Jimmy Campagna was also in the top 10 in the discus for the Stags (seventh).
Kavin Prasanna earned sixth place in the hammer throw for the Stags with a distance of 169'2" and
Aidan Cho was sixth in the shot put at 48'0", with
Grady Johnson close behind in eighth.
Jaden Rattay ran in the 200 and clocked a time of 21.81, placing eighth out of 68 runners.
Oliver Thompson was ninth in the 400 meters at 49.24, and
Arnav Shetty came in 11th of 129 runners in the 1500 meters with a 3:55.64.
Colin Lakkaraju was seventh in the triple jump at 44'0.5" and
Jonathan Holcombe earned ninth in the long jump at 21'2.75" out of 33 competitors.
CMS will be action next week at various venues as it gears up for the SCIAC Championships in three weeks.
