Occidental scored an unearned run in the first, but Wedemeyer responded with a two-run blast in the second to give CMS the lead for good.
Megan Kho followed with an RBI single to make it 3-1, and
Rachel Sapirstein added a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 4-1.
Danica Stirling, who was 2-for-2 on the day, drove home a run in the third with a successful squeeze play, and Gaby RObel had an RBI single in the sixth to make the score 6-1. After Wedemeyer hit a solo homer in the seventh, Sapirstein was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for her second RBI of the day.
Occidental pushed across four unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Adams came back in to preserve her own win, getting the final out on a pop-up with the tying run at the plate.
The two teams will complete the three-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader at Athena Field which will also be Senior Day for the program's three seniors, Adams, Kho and Sapirstein.
