CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's tennis program will serve as the host of the NCAA Division III Regionals this Thursday-Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
Thursday will feature an opening round game between Whitman and Mary Hardin-Baylor at 11 a.m.. The winner of that match will play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at noon in one of two regional semifinals, while Pomona-Pitzer will face Colorado College in the day's first match at 11 a.m.
The two regional semifinal winners will face each other on Saturday in the regional finals at 11 a.m., for the right to advance to the NCAA Division III Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
CMS enters the postseason with a 23-1 record and a 23-match win streak since falling 4-3 on opening day in January to UC Riverside, a Division I school. The Athenas have not lost to a Division III team this season, including winning the ITA Indoor Nationals with 4-3 victories over defending national champion WashU and Emory, before a 4-1 win in the finals over Chicago.
Last weekend, CMS earned the SCIAC Championship with a 5-0 win over Pomona-Pitzer to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The Athenas have reached nationals every year since 2011, when it was held at Biszantz for the first time.
CMS is hosting a regional for the first time since 2019. In recent years, CMS and Pomona-Pitzer have opted not to host in order to avoid meeting each other before the national quarterfinals, although one year the two teams met at Texas-Dallas, when the Athenas won a close 5-4 decision on their way to their second straight national title in 2023.
The women's regional will run concurrently with an NCAA Men's Tennis Regional, which will feature four teams on Friday-Saturday. The complete schedule for the week is as follows:
