Advik Mareedu Repeats as Academic All-America Team Member of the Year

CLAREMONT, Calif. - For the second straight year, Advik Mareedu of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned the Division III Men's Tennis Academic All-America Team Member of the Year honor from the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today.

The CSC Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and in the classroom. Nomination for the award requires meeting minimum standards of both athletic participation and cumulative grade point average.

For the second year in a row, Mareedu was chosen as the student-athlete who best represents the Academic All-America honor in Division III men's tennis. He has been the No. 1 ranked singles player for each of the last two years, winning back-to-back NCAA Division III singles championships, as well as the 2024 ITA Cup national title in singles, and a runner-up finish in the ITA Cup in 2025.

Over the last two seasons, Mareedu has compiled an 84-3 record in singles, going 41-1 in 2024-25 (36-0 against Division III opponents) and following up with a 43-2 record as a senior this past year. His two losses came in the ITA Cup finals to Ruilin Feng of Emory in October, and to Michael Melnikov of Swarthmore in the ITA Indoor Championships quarterfinals in February. He avenged both losses in straight sets, defeating Feng in the quarterfinals of the NCAA team competition in May, and then defeating Melinkov in the finals of the NCAA singles championship to earn his second straight title.

Mareedu became only the third player in NCAA Division III history to win two straight NCAA singles championships, with two others also winning it twice in non-consecutive years. His 43 singles wins and 75 combined wins (singles and doubles) in 2025-26 both set new CMS records, and his 144 singles wins passed the old program record by 16.

A joint mathematics and computer science major at Harvey Mudd, Mareedu also maintains a 3.88 grade point average at one of the top STEM schools in the country. He has also won the ITA Cup Sportsmanship award two years in a row, and was the regional winner of the Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award.

Mareedu helped CMS to a 34-2 final record and an appearance in the national championship match. The Stags reached the national semifinals in all four of Mareedu's seasons, and reached the championship match twice.
