CLAREMONT, Calif. - Isla Duncan of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's cross country team earned the SCIAC Athlete of the Week Award for events through Sunday, Sept. 20, the conference office announced today. 

Duncan finished in 12th overall out of 269 runners in a largely Division I field, tying for the fourth-fastest time in CMS women's cross country history with a 20:37.6, to highlight the Athenas' performance at the UC Riverside Invitational on Saturday morning. 

Duncan's 20:37.6 matched the time set by Riley Harmon on the same course in 2021, and places her only 6.6 seconds behind the all-time fastest run of 20:31.0, set by Meredith Bloss that same year. It also gave Duncan her second high finish of her young career, after coming in eighth at the Coyote Challenge in her debut to lead the Athenas, in a time which ranked 20th all-time at CMS, before moving up to fourth this week.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it travels to the Division III Pre-Nationals in Minnesota on Oct. 3.
